Help / FAQ

Getting started

If you are just getting started with ExcelProjectTemplate below are some general first-time guidelines

1) Make a pristine copy of your workbook should you have to revert to the original version

2) Select all your worksheet at once and adjust the Excel zoom level according to your screen size

3) To avoid issues with data reference ensure that you have a few entries in your master list prior to do a chart “refresh”

4) Set your hierarchy layout style in cell J40 of the “Configurations” sheet
The layout number changes the appearance of the hierarchy chart and in some cases the default value may not be assigned to a hierarchy on your version of Excel.
Try #4, #88, #93, #97, #104

5) In the “Project Definition Template”, use the "+" and "-" buttons above the Excel column letters to expand or collapse section 1 to 10. To expand or collapse all, use button "1" or "2" above the Excel row numbers

Compatibility

If your version of Excel is 2007 PC, SmartArt programming is not supported and the hierarchy chart will not refresh automatically.
Change the “Dashboard” link of all worksheets to cell A1 of a worksheet of your choice e.g. “-CompletedChart”

If your version of Excel is Mac 2011 6 ranges need to be updated to avoid Pivot chart data issues.
Navigate to the Excel menu Insert-->Name-->Define. In the list you will find 6 ranges starting with “Pivot”.
In each of those, replace the values “13” by “14”
For example, the range "PivotCompletedLabels" is defined with:
=OFFSET('-FireGoal Pivot Data'!$L$13,0,0,COUNTA('-FireGoal Pivot Data'!$L$13:$L$1048576),1)
Change for:
=OFFSET('-FireGoal Pivot Data'!$L$14,0,0,COUNTA('-FireGoal Pivot Data'!$L$14:$L$1048576),1)
